The tech2 SuperFoiler has the pedigree to back that up, given Newton is pairing with world champion Ayden Menzies and another America’s Cup heavy-hitter in Luke Parkinson. A winner of the Volvo Ocean Race, tech2’s skipper insists his team will make their presence felt when the Grand Prix makes its world premiere this weekend in South Australia.

“I’m excited to be sailing with tech2 and I’m looking forward to taking on the best in the business,” said Parkinson “We are feeling confident heading into the series – we are definitely looking to be on the podium.”

It is a sentiment echoed by the boats primary sponsor, tech2 Managing Director Glen Powys, “Tech is what we are all about. tech2 is excited to partner with The SuperFoiler Grand Prix, to bring this cutting-edge sailing technology to Australian waters. It is thrilling to play our part in seeing these high adrenaline racing machines fly across the water and take the sailing world by storm.”

The SuperFoiler Grand Prix is staging five regattas across Australia starting with Adelaide in February before the Grand Final on Sydney Harbour commences on March 23.

Spectators can see the machines up close at various floating corporate hospitality venues across the country, with tickets available here – www.superfoiler.com/events
