The exhilarating new spectacle is expected to draw a raft of new fans to the sport, with a big screen at the Geelong Yacht Club set to show all the immersive onboard experience live and with commentary.

A stellar line up of local and international teams featuring Olympic and World Champions and former winners of the America’s Cup will light up Corio Bay with the goal of lifting the Ben Lexcen Trophy.

Geelong hosts the second leg of the new competition as it completes a national circuit with nine races staged on Port Phillip Bay between 9-11 February.

“The SuperFoiler Grand Prix is a fantastic event that will bring people together, support jobs and provide another excuse for visitors to enjoy our region,” said Member for Geelong Christine Couzens

With a travelling party of more than 60 from across Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain and the United States, the SuperFoiler team have so far uncovered many of the delights of the Bellarine Taste Trail including the fresh seafood of Sea Bounty Mussels and the culinary delights of Little Malop Street.

“It is great to be racing before a passionate sailing community in almost perfect sailing conditions,” said SuperFoiler CEO Bill Macartney, “Corio Bay is as good as it gets and the entire team is enjoying the waterfront vibe.”

“Cafes, bars and hotels along the waterfront will reap the rewards of the world’s best sailors and thousands of fans coming to our region,” added Minister Eren.

Racing continues Saturday and Sunday with three skirmishes each day live streamed at www.superfoiler.com from 2pm AEDT
