Topflight AFL player Cam Guthrie joined Jed Bews and Mark Blicavs for scorching laps of Corio Bay ahead of the second leg of the SuperFoiler Grand Prix slated for Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Geelong.

While iD was still dripping wet from her capsize just minutes before Guthrie stepped on-board, it was a safe run for the Geelong star.

“I had no idea what I was doing at the start, I was happy to just be a passenger and not do too much work,” said Guthrie who chalked up 20 AFL games for the Cats last year and was on board iD Intranet for a blinding 30 knot run this afternoon, “I have never been out on the harbour before so to do it on a boat like that was pretty awesome.”

Cats team mate Mark Blicavs also got a thrill from his time on the water after burning around with the finest sail boat athletes in the world on board Record Point “I was told if I nosedive I was the first one out. I was gripping pretty hard I think we hit 60 kilometres, it was unbelievable,” said the 2015 Carji Greeves medalist.

For Record Point skipper Phil Robertson, it was a relatively smooth ride – given his last two outings have been cursed with a capsize and an injury to one of his team-mates in Tom Clout.

SuperFoiler’s Head of Production is reveling at being able to test the broadcast technology on today’s special visitors at the launch pad, “The headcam vision of the Cats players is so engrossing – their fear is genuine and so is their euphoria. We are continually finessing how best to integrate these moments into this weekend’s broadcast, and we are nearly there,” said Christo Macartney.

This weekend’s racing will be livestreamed at from 2pm-4pm local time.
